Essential Job Duties
The Accounting Technician for the Department of Clinical Sciences (DoCS) is responsible for providing financial and administrative support for departmental operations, including state-appropriated funds, discretionary funds, foundation/gift funds, grants, and sales and service center receipts. 
This position supports the department through financial reconciliation, procurement processing, travel management, reimbursement processing, and compliance monitoring. The role works closely with faculty, staff, the Department Accountant, and the CVM Business Office (CVMBO) to ensure accurate financial management and adherence to university policies and state regulations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, customer service, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in budgeting, financial administration, and advanced proficiency in computerized financial systems, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Background working in regulated environments (higher education, government, healthcare, or research) with a proven ability to interpret policies, maintain accurate records, and handle confidential data with discretion.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills to analyze financial data, identify issues, exercise sound judgment, and develop compliant, strategic solutions.
  • Exceptional time-management skills to independently prioritize a heavy workload, meet tight deadlines in fast-paced settings, and quickly adapt to new technologies or regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills used to deliver high-quality customer service, collaborate effectively within teams, and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
