The Magnet® Program Manager maintains responsibility for leading, directing, coordinating, and facilitating the activities and initiatives associated with non-clinical aspects of nursing professional practice, which includes attaining and maintaining ANCC Magnet® Designation status.
The Magnet® Program Manager is responsible for the supporting the integration of the Professional Practice Model in to Care Delivery System for all clinical areas across the system and serves as a culture and change strategist to advance the practice of professional nursing and achievement of the Organizations Key Performance Indicators.
The program manager elevates the practice of nursing through facilitation and involvement within the following: Clinical advancement program, shared decision making, peer review, preceptor and mentor development and professional and recruitment and retention strategies. As the organization's site and survey coordinator for nursing satisfaction, and nursing sensitive quality indicators, this role collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer and quality analytics teams in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of nurse sensitive indicator data.
Responsibilities

Magnet® Program Leadership
- Serve as the organizational subject matter expert for ANCC Magnet® Recognition Program standards and related nursing excellence programs.
- Lead Magnet® designation, redesignation, and readiness initiatives across the organization.
- Coordinate Magnet® gap assessments and develop action plans to address improvement opportunities.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the ANCC Magnet® Program Office and appraisers.
- Coordinate the collection, organization, submission, and maintenance of all Magnet® documentation and supporting evidence.
- Prepare and submit required Magnet® reports, applications, interim reports, and designation-related documentation.
- Lead planning and execution of Magnet® site visits in collaboration with nursing leadership and shared governance councils.
Nursing Professional Practice & Professional Development
- Promote and support nursing professional practice across the organization.
- Integrate and sustain the Professional Practice Model within nursing care delivery.
- Educate nurses, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams on Magnet® principles and nursing excellence standards.
- Serve as administrative liaison for the Clinical Ladder Program.
- Support initiatives focused on:
- Clinical Ladder advancement
- Specialty certification
- Degree advancement
- Professional development
- Nurse residency programs
- Preceptor and mentor programs
- Peer review processes
- Promote opportunities for nurses to advance their careers through education, certification, and leadership development.
Evidence-Based Practice, Research & Clinical Inquiry
- Promote and support evidence-based practice, nursing research, performance improvement, and clinical inquiry initiatives.
- Mentor nursing staff in the development and dissemination of evidence-based projects and research.
- Encourage abstract presentations, publications, and scholarly activities.
- Collaborate with nursing and system leaders to expand nursing research opportunities.
- Serve as a resource and consultant regarding Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes and research activities.
- Maintain required research-related training and certifications.
Quality, Outcomes & Data Management
- Monitor, analyze, and communicate nursing quality, safety, workforce, and patient experience metrics.
- Collaborate with organizational stakeholders to optimize benchmarking and performance measurements.
- Evaluate nursing-sensitive quality indicators and support implementation of evidence-based improvements.
- Manage and report data related to:
- RN Engagement Surveys
- Nursing Degree Advancement
- Professional Certification Rates
- Nurse-Sensitive Quality Indicators (NDNQI)
- Patient Experience Outcomes
- Provide outcome data to support educational and professional practice initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Leadership
- Support development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual Nursing Strategic Plan.
- Collaborate with executive and nursing leadership to advance organizational nursing priorities.
- Lead and manage projects supporting continuous nursing excellence and Magnet® success.
- Function as a consultant to nursing leaders regarding professional practice initiatives, leadership development, and nursing excellence strategies.
- Promote performance improvement methodologies and organizational improvement initiatives.
Shared Governance & Staff Engagement
- Partner with nursing leaders and shared governance councils to advance professional nursing practice.
- Lead, support, and develop Magnet® Champion programs.
- Maintain strong communication with frontline staff, nursing leadership, executive leadership, and system stakeholders.
- Promote nurse engagement, participation, and ownership in Magnet® initiatives.
- Support peer evaluation and professional accountability programs.
Recognition & Professional Excellence Programs
- Assist in the planning and coordination of nursing recognition and engagement events, including:
- Nurses Week
- DAISY Awards
- Professional Certification Recognition
- Degree Advancement Recognition
- Specialty Nursing Recognition Programs
- Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to support Magnet® initiatives and nursing excellence recognition efforts.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare field required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a compact-state equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related nursing experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience with demonstrated impact on nursing practice, quality outcomes, professional development, or organizational initiatives.
- Knowledge of nursing professional practice, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and nursing performance metrics.
- Strong project management, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or other post-graduate degree.
- Professional Nursing Certification in Nursing Leadership, Nursing Professional Development, or related specialty.
- Previous Magnet® program, Pathway to Excellence®, nursing accreditation, or nursing excellence program experience.
- Experience managing large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Background in nursing research, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, or professional practice leadership.
