911 Dispatcher
HIRING RANGE: $28.06 - $31.58/hourly Plus a $5,000 Hiring bonus for Laterals

As a 911 Dispatcher with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center, you will contribute to the safety of our community by receiving incoming calls and performing dispatching activities for police, fire, and ambulance services. About the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center: 
The Grand Junction Regional Communication Center (GJRCC) serves multiple highly-respected law enforcement and fire/EMS agencies that use state-of-the-art equipment and modern tactical response techniques to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Mesa County, Colorado. 

You'll be part of a team of professionals who work to improve the lives of those in their community. We are an IAED ACE-accredited center, and our training program is APCO-certified through the Agency Training Program Certification, and we work with national and state professional associations to equip us to serve our citizens. What You'll Do: 
As the first contact point with the public via the 911 and non-emergent telephone and text lines, the 911 Dispatcher must obtain information from callers who are requesting police, fire, ambulance, and other emergency services. 

Typical duties include:

  • Answering emergent and non-emergent calls for service while simultaneously recording information.
  • Calming, negotiating, advising, and otherwise communicating with the caller to obtain the necessary information to determine both the nature of the call as well as what resources to send.
  • Coordinating and relaying information and assistance requests to the appropriate law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical service agency.

Recruitment Timeline:

Oral board interviews will take place during the weeks of June 15, 2026, and July 13, 2026.

Oral board interview weeks include suitability interviews and testing as well Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) and fingerprinting to obtain a criminal history.
Executive interview dates tentatively scheduled for:

  • Week of September 7, 2026
  • All final offers for the October Academy, will be tentatively extended no later than September 28, 2026 (earlier applicants could receive final offers prior to this date.) 
  • 911 Dispatcher Academy is scheduled to begin the week of October 12, 2026.
