Job Description
The Strategic Account Executive, Government is a hunter-focused role responsible for driving new business and expanding adoption of the Vexcel Data Program across State and Local Government agencies. You will own a defined territory, close net-new logo opportunities, and grow existing enterprise accounts through multi-year data agreements.
This role requires deep engagement with government stakeholders, mastery of public-sector procurement, and the ability to position Vexcel's data as foundational infrastructure for agency operations.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute a government-focused territory plan aligned to revenue and pipeline targets
  • Build detailed account plans for priority agencies, including stakeholder mapping and tailored value propositions
  • Identify and leverage government purchasing vehicles, cooperative contracts, and schedules to streamline procurement
  • Generate new pipeline while managing multiple complex opportunities through the full enterprise sales cycle
  • Lead and support RFP, RFQ, and sole-source responses in coordination with proposal and technical teams
  • Establish trusted relationships with government executives, program leaders, and technical decision-makers
  • Partner with public-sector resellers and distributors such as SHI, Carahsoft, and others to expand reach and accelerate deals
  • Maintain accurate pipeline hygiene, deal strategy, and forecasting within the CRM
  • Collaborate closely with sales engineering, customer success, and product teams to ensure successful program adoption
  • Represent the Vexcel Data Program at industry events, conferences, and executive briefings

  • 5+ years of account executive experience with consistent quota attainment, preferably in GovTech, SaaS, or data-driven solutions
  • Proven hunter mindset with experience closing six-figure and multi-year government contracts
  • Strong understanding of state and local government procurement processes, including RFPs and cooperative purchasing vehicles
  • Experience selling through channel partners and public-sector resellers
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior government leaders and complex buying committees
  • Strong CRM discipline and forecasting accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and executive presentations
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
