Job description

SUMMARY: National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is hiring a part-time Grant Writer. Under the direction of the Donor Relations & Grants Manager, this position will be responsible for researching, writing and submitting proposals for government and foundation grant funding. Researching federal, state and local grants and identifying new sources of revenue is required. *The schedule and hours are on as needed basis, depending on the grants and contracts received.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Proposals to Private and Corporate Foundations
§ Research and identify new funding prospects,
§ Develop and write grant proposals
§ Develop budgets for grant proposals with input from Finance, Clinical & HR teams
§ Conduct research needed to support proposals, including statistics, published research, input from clinical staff
§ Research government, federal, state and local grants
Respond to Government Grants and Contract Opportunities
§ Coordinate, write and submit agency responses to government RFPs, federal funding announcements and other government solicitations
§ Project manage corporate and clinical staff input and information flow concerning responses to RFPs
§ Develop presentations, written responses to questions, or any other material connected with agency's response to RFPs
§ For proposals that result in awards, participate in preliminary contract reviews prior to signing contract
§ Continually research new RFP/funding opportunities
§ Assist with other related special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Minimum of five years in development, corporate/foundation grant writing and/or a related field
§ Minimum of five years' experience working with submitting RFPs, government contracts or procurement
§ History of securing 5-7 figure government grants
§ History of writing and closing grants for DOJ, BOP, SAMHSA, DHHS, HRSA or similar agencies preferred
§ Bachelor's Degree required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
§ Prior experience with all aspects of preparing and submitting successful responses to government RFPs and federal funding announcements
§ Prior experience developing and writing successful proposals to private foundation and corporations
§ Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
§ Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment programs and services preferred
§ Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality
§ Ability to develop internal organization knowledge of program and activities to be able to match grants and donor opportunities
