What Is a Remote Dietitian and How to Become One

What Does a Remote Dietitian Do?

As a remote dietitian, your duties are to provide your client with virtual assistance with improving their diet and overall health. You assess your client’s current meal plan, exercise regimen, medical history, and other lifestyle factors and advise your clients on ways to make improvements to their lifestyle. Your responsibilities may include developing short- and long-term goals with your clients, encouraging them to focus on their nutrition, and helping them to meet their goals through counseling, health coaching, and education.

How to Become a Remote Dietitian

To become a remote dietitian, you need to have several qualifications, including education, professional certification, work experience, and analytical problem-solving skills. Dietitians need to have a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food science, dietetics, public health, or a closely related field. In addition, you need to have a minimum number of supervised clinical hours before you can earn your license. Many home-based dietitians have a master’s degree in nutrition or a closely related subject as well. Since this is a virtual position, you need excellent communications skills and a reliable internet connection.
