A part-time night cleaner performs janitorial duties in a building or facility in the evening or overnight. In this position, you work after hours to clean the building when no employees or guests are present. Your responsibilities include removing the trash, vacuuming or washing floors, cleaning surfaces, wiping windows, and replenishing office supplies. You also clean restrooms and ensure that lighting fixtures work correctly. Part-time cleaners typically work for several hours after the building closes or after employees and visitors leave for the day. You may instead only work a few days a week. Some employers hire workers to perform more extensive cleaning on weekends.

How to Become a Part-Time Night Cleaner

The qualifications that you need to become a part-time night cleaner include previous janitorial experience and the ability to work after regular office hours. Employers expect you to have at least a high school diploma, and they may provide on-the-job training to workers without previous experience. You need to pass a background check, and companies often require you to pass a drug test as well. This career requires the physical skills to carry supplies, push or move cleaning equipment, and reach spaces on the ground and above your head. You also need to ability to perform maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs.
