What Does a Food Truck Caterer Do?

A food truck caterer cooks and serves food out of a food truck. As a food truck caterer, you prepare the menu, take orders from and serve customers, and drive the mobile food truck. Your responsibilities include cooking the food and keeping the food truck clean. Other duties include scheduling and overseeing staff members and taking payments from customers. It’s your job to respond to their needs and complaints and market your food truck within the greater community. Qualifications for this job vary and can include cooking and customer service skills as well as the ability to order and maintain inventory for the food truck.

What Are the Different Jobs in Food Truck Catering?

There are many different jobs in food truck catering. Some food truck catering jobs include that of a driver, cook, window attendant, food preparer, manager, and cashier. Most people who work on food trucks do multiple jobs at once, as food trucks are small and can only house a certain number of employees at a time. Often, one person may take orders, serve customers, and handle money while another person preps and cooks the food. Food trucks need marketing to survive, and many food truck catering companies need social media experts on staff.
