An Advertising Agent, which may also be known as an Advertising Sales Agent, typically works with prospects and clients to earn their advertising firm business. They're usually the first point of contact between the company and the client and are responsible for explaining the different types of advertising services that the company can provide to them. They'll provide clients with quotes and actual costs, coordinate paperwork, and deliver sales presentations to prospective and current clients. You'll need to create a good, professional working relationship with the client so you can identify their pain points in order to help deliver the advertising services they need.

How to Become an Advertising Agent

An advertising agent sells advertising space to individuals, companies, or organizations. These professionals may work for advertising companies, public relations firms, or media such as websites, TV, or radio stations. As an advertising agent, your job duties include contacting potential clients, creating sales pitches for advertising campaigns, and maintaining client relationships. To become an advertising agent, you typically need at least a high school diploma or GED certificate and relevant experience. However, some employers may require a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Additional qualifications for the career include excellent interpersonal, communication, and sales skills, as well as an understanding of marketing and modern media.
