Job description

Core Molding Technologies is hiring a Business Development Manager to grow customer relationships, generate new opportunities, and drive revenue focused on Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) materials.

In this role, you will lead commercial efforts to expand the use of Coreโ€™s composite material solutions by working directly with OEMs, Tier suppliers, and molders to identify applications where SMC can deliver performance, weight, cost, and durability advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities for Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) materials
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of material opportunities across targeted industries and applications
  • Develop relationships with OEMs, molders, and Tier suppliers to promote the adoption of composite materials
  • Collaborate with engineering, materials, and manufacturing teams to support technical discussions and application development
  • Provide customers with technical information on SMC capabilities, properties, and application benefits
  • Prepare proposals, pricing models, and customer presentations
  • Support contract negotiations and commercial agreements
  • Track and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive material technologies
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and opportunity tracking through CRM tools
  • Provide input on market strategy, product positioning, and growth opportunities for composite materials

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, technical sales, or account management
  • Strong ability to build relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Proven success managing a sales pipeline and achieving revenue targets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%

Preferred

  • Experience selling composite materials, thermoset materials, or engineered materials
  • Experience with SMC, BMC, thermoset composites, or related materials
  • Background in automotive, industrial, transportation, or heavy equipment markets
  • Experience working with molders, Tier suppliers, or OEM engineering teams

Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Travel: Up to 50% (customer visits, trade shows, industry events)
  • Work Environment: Office and occasional manufacturing or customer production environments
  • Physical Requirements: Occasionally lift/move up to 10 lbs
