Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Clerk to support a growing immigration law team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role starts as a 13-week contract with strong potential to convert to a full-time position based on attendance, performance, and overall fit with the team. The position focuses heavily on mail processing, document organization, and administrative support, with opportunities to expand into additional responsibilities and potentially grow into a lead role over time.
Responsibilities
- Sort, process, and route incoming mail and legal documents.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic files.
- Review documents and update case information in case management systems and Excel.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry and document preparation.
- Support daily operations in both the mailroom and office environment.
- Maintain accuracy and quality in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Cross-train on additional functions and assist where needed.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of administrative experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Experience with document management and filing systems.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a law firm, especially immigration law.
- Mailroom or file clerk experience.
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks with consistency and accuracy.
- Interest in professional growth and leadership opportunities.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. The work takes place in both a mailroom and main operations area within an immigration law setting, where the pace is fast and the volume of documents is high. Business casual attire is required, with jeans permitted on Fridays for a casual dress day. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
