The Estimator provides and/or coordinates full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of contracts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review project plans, requirements and specifications
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
• Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks
• Determine labor and construction equipment costs
• Prepare conceptual estimates
• Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
• Submit requisitions for purchase of materials
• Compare competitive trade bids
• Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters)
• Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors
• Participate in bid compilation on bid day
• Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award
• Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable)
• Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors
• Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable)
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned

-Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.

-Assist contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.

-Track awarded contracts as required – may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit; procuring materials on major work items.

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

. 4-year degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
. 3 – 5 years of experience in estimating and 8 – 10 years in the construction industry is preferred.
. On-Center, Quick bid Software experience preferred

• Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 3 years project engineering or related experience
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
• Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
• Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
• Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable)
• Drafting and computer skills

SALARY AND BENEFITS

· Reporting to the Senior Chief Estimator and Project Manager, this is a full-time, in-house position. Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM LOCATION: Oakland, CA

· Salary range is $85,000 - $110,000 – commensurate with experience

· Full benefits package including PTO, Health, Vision and Dental insurance, and all federal holidays
