Utility Locator Technician

Digital Concrete is a highly skilled NDT company providing private utility locating, concrete scanning, and concrete x-ray services. We are looking for professionals who not only have technical expertise and customer service skills to do the job, but who also can contribute to our top-quality team and best practices.

We are looking for a Utility Locator Expert with at least 5 years of experience working for a private utility locator company with experience locating all utilities at a site to work in the Bay Area. We would like someone experienced with the pertinent tools required, such as Rigid SeekTech, Vivax MetroTech, Radio Detection, Traceable Sewer Cameras, Traceable Pushrods, Pushrods with Sonde Transmitters and GSSI GPR Systems for deep scanning and high resolution concrete scanning. In this job, you will have direct contact with clients, perform and analyze scans, document critical data, read and interpret utility plans, mark utilities with the correct paint colors, flags or whiskers, write comprehensive reports, and inform clients of your findings. Technicians will complete jobs on an hourly basis locating privately owned utilities on both commercial properties, construction sites and residential properties.

We would like to see a new hire prepared to go out and work jobs independently as soon as possible with limited training beyond learning the company culture and vision. That is why being able to locate and accurately mark out very utility at a site is key. The typical utilities we mark out are: Storm Drain Systems, Sewer Systems, Telecommunication Systems, Communication Systems, Fiber Optic Systems, High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical Systems, Street Light Systems, Domestic Water Systems, Fire Water Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Reclaimed Water Systems, Natural Gas Systems, Hydrogen Gas Systems, Nitrogen Gas Systems, Oxygen Gas Systems, Petroleum Fuel Systems, Compressed Air Systems and Irrigation Systems to name a few. It is also desirable to have work experience photographs showing your previous utility locating paint layouts.

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Effective Communications

Physically capable to carry 50 pounds

Work/walk on concrete and walk for long periods of time, often slippery or uneven surfaces

Extensive driving is part of your day

Comfortable working on small or larger construction projects

Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently

Strong technical aptitude

Experience in general construction or building practices

40+ hours a week, some overtime may be required

Requirements

5 years minimum experience as a utility locator at a private locator company

Must pass a pre-employment drug screening

Clean driving record, and valid California driver’s license

Reliable transportation to Alameda

Must be 18 or older

High school diploma or GED

Must be authorized to work in the US

Maintain OSHA Safety Regulations at all times

Preferred

OSHA 30 Certified

GPR experience
