Medical Assistant

We are a Physical Medicine specialty practice looking for a Medical Assistant who can provide clinical and administrative assistance in patient care. We are looking for someone who will fit in well with our company culture. We are willing to train the right candidate. Must be certified in phlebotomy.

They will be professional and possess excellent interpersonal skills that allow them to communicate effectively with diverse personalities as well as work with patients, medical offices, claims and insurance companies, legal representatives, and other entities. Attendance is extremely important to this position, so the right candidate will also be accountable and consistent when it comes to presence and punctuality.

Phlebotomy, experience in specimen collection and disposal (blood, urine), and training in bloodborne pathogen safety required.

Basic technical skills with computers strongly preferred, as well as experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other programs.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with clinicians to ensure their schedule runs smoothly and patient needs are met
• Escort patients to exam rooms and take basic history, as needed
• Prepare for patient exams and procedures, practicing sterile technique where applicable
• Perform blood draws on a daily basis in preparation for certain procedures
• Take vitals, as needed
• Keep clinic tidy and well-stocked with supplies
• Assist with patient care coordination (fax referrals, obtain medical records, contact outside offices, etc.)
• Triage incoming clinical calls (treatment questions, medication refill requests, etc.)
• Obtain pre-authorization for procedures and consultations from insurance companies
• Assist other staff with phone calls, scheduling, clerical activities, and other miscellaneous duties when necessary

Job Type: Full-time, Day shift, Monday-Friday

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour*

*Pay rate negotiable and based on experience.
