Azure Architect

Summary:

The Azure Architect will design, plan, support, document, and maintain Karpel’s Commercial and Government Azure environment. They will oversee Security, Stability, Redundancy, and DR daily.

Primary Responsibilities

• Designing, planning, supporting, and overseeing Azure Commercial and Government Environment.
• Help monitor Azure cloud-based systems for availability, performance, reliability, security, etc., using tools like Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Trusted Advisor, or similar.
• Drive decision-making, identify alternatives, pros, and cons, and make recommendations on Azure Infrastructure and Security.
• Anticipate when architectural changes will be needed and prepare our organization for transition changes.
• Balancing of Infrastructure performance/design against cost growth.
• Assisting in the administration of Azure DevOps environments.
• Utilize automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, Ansible, or similar
• Help automate the management and enforcement of policies using Azure Policies.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Deep knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Azure IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS features.
• Hands-on experience with Azure App Service Model (Web Apps, Mobile Apps, API Apps, and Web jobs).
• Hands-on experience with Azure storage services like SQL DB, Tables, Files, and Blobs.
• Hands-on experience in microservice development on Azure using Container Service and Service Fabric.
• Hands-on experience in executing cloud native projects in Azure with DevOps using VSTS, Microsoft, and Open Source Tools.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Integration services like Service Bus and Event Hubs.
• Hands-on experience with Azure IaaS (VMs, VNET, NSG Rules, VPN Gateways, Load Balancing, and Express Route).
• Experience in CI/CD methodologies, administration, and implementation.
• Creating, deploying, configuring, and scaling applications on Windows Azure PaaS.
• Experience with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, DISA, FISMA).
• Ability to work on a team as well as independently to achieve team goals.
• Azure PowerShell or similar scripting experience.
• Experience implementing and managing DevOps pipelines for cloud-based workloads.
• 3 - 5 years of solid experience in Azure IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS.
• 3 - 5 years of advanced networking and cloud security.
• One or more Azure cloud certifications.
