The Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNVRHA) is currently recruiting for a Director of Information Technology to join our team. Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Information Technology serves as a member of SNRHA’s management team and is responsible for the management, strategy and execution of SNRHA’s IT infrastructure. This position is accountable for ensuring that technology solutions are incorporated into SNRHA’s overall operations and strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • § Responsible for development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of SNRHA’s technology programs.
  • § Provides leadership for short-and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: innovation, vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
  • § Responsible for maintaining technology operations to include systems administration, network management, telecommunications management, system and data security, system and data backup and emergency recovery plans.
  • § Responsible for assuring data integrity and assisting staff in data access and utilization.
  • § Provides leadership in identifying hardware and software needs and purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with the school system instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines.
  • Provides planning, budgeting, leadership and supervision to the IT department, communicates current and projected needs, requirements and options during the budgeting process, and recommends acquisitions and updates.
  • Coordinates long-range planning activities for SNRHA’s technology infrastructure, including information systems, computer networks, personal computers, video systems, and voice communication systems, etc.
  • Evaluates and recommends vendor contracts for hardware, software, and technology related services as needed.
  • Establishes standards for desktop computing, user support services and training.
  • Directs IT support services and ensures a prompt, efficient, effective, and client friendly technical support operation.
  • Develops information security guidelines and manages implementation, arranges for needed training and staff professional development, and recommends and drafts policy revisions where needed.
  • Establishes standards for technology hardware, software, and communications protocols.
  • Drafts, maintains, reviews, and upgrades SNRHA’s disaster recovery plan for information recovery services.
  • Provide overall supervision and leadership over the Business Operation Manager.
  • Assists the Business Operation Manager in developing objectives for the call center’s day-to-day activities
  • Collect and analyze call-center statistics, and evaluate performance with key metrics (accuracy, call-waiting time, etc.).
  • Support the relationship between SNRHA and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and SNRHA staff.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of our tracking software.
  • Oversee all help desk activities.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provide expert support when necessary.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software for company training programs and the Learning Centers and provide additional support if necessary.
  • Oversee and monitor all telephone changes, including routing for seating assignments.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to efficiently implement technical installations and upgrades.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required and/or assigned.

This position is not eligible for participation in the collective bargaining unit (SEIU) representing certain Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are intended to identify applicants most likely to perform successfully. Applicants who meet minimum qualifications are not guaranteed an interview; however, they are further assessed in order to determine how well (s) they meet the minimum qualifications of the position and the immediate needs of the agency. Applicants should possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience managing computer information systems and infrastructures.
  • 1-2 years of experience supervising staff in a technical environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective dialogue with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific program software (e.g., Yardi).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications are desired qualifications above and beyond minimum qualifications that demonstrate additional education, experience, training, or other credentials. Preference may be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, etc.
  • Previous public housing, public sector, social services or government agency experience.
