Hyzon is searching for an several experienced Prototype Vehicle Technicians in our Bolingbrook, IL Global Innovation Center. This Prototype Vehicle Technician is a core member of the vehicle engineering team to lead the development and prototyping of Hyzon’s cutting-edge Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles (FCEV), and vehicle systems. The Prototype Vehicle Technician is responsible for partnering with project engineering and vehicle engineering teams to build, test, and assemble our Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks. The Prototype Vehicle Technician will be working alongside a team of three to build, validate, and test our Fuel Cell Technologies, integration, and vehicle assembly prototype builds. Prototype Vehicle Technicians and Engineers work collaboratively at Hyzon on new product development and prototyping projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for integrating, assembling, and installing fuel cell technologies, electric powertrain components, chassis systems, and other vehicle components and sub-systems.
• Responsible for retrofitting and prototyping fuel cell technologies into existing vehicles including hardware and electrical wiring integration.
• Diagnose and repair failures found with prototypes.
• Provide failure analysis, and design concerns, and propose solutions back to Engineering.
• Provide electrical and mechanical fabrication as designed and specified by Engineering.
• Review and read schematics and engineering drawings to build prototypes and vehicle assembly retrofits.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A two-year technical degree in electronics and or at least two year of experience (military training would be great) and training in electronics or vehicle systems.
• Prior experience with building Electrical Vehicles or Electric Trucks is preferred.
• Experience working with electronic sub-assemblies and complex electrical systems including testing, troubleshooting, and helping to build prototypes puts you a step ahead..
• Vehicle technical certification (ASE or equivalent) or prior experience working hands-on as a Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Mechanic are very sought after for this role.
• Able to do wire harness fabrication and repair.
• Able to troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic systems.
• Fabrication skills utilizing machine shop equipment (mill, shear, brake, saws, etc.).
• Proficient in welding (MIG, TIG).
• Trained in high voltage electrical system handling, installation, termination, and safety.
• Trained in air brake, air conditioning, steering, suspension, hydraulic, and chassis systems.
• Developing the Bill of Materials, new methods, and practices
• Experience working with and around pressurized combustible/non-combustible gas
• Trained in tube bending, pipe fitting, plumbing termination.
• CDL Class A or B certified, or willing to obtain after being hired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Automotive Certified Master Technician or similar certification repairing, building, and assembling Trucks, specifically Heavy-Duty Trucks, at an OEM or similar technology organization.
• Over 5 years of experience building, prototyping, testing, and validating truck builds including electrified or hydrogen powered trucks and vehicles.

• Expertise with milling, turning, grinding, power tools, overhead cranes/hoists, and MIG/TIG welding.
• CDL Class A
