Job DescriptionCompany Description
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Performs bench level experiments and small independent research projects to support scientific research objectives of a lab or group. Analyzes experimental data, addresses methodological problems in experimental protocols and results, and reports data to supervisor. Helps maintain lab reagents and equipment. Uses discretion in prioritizing and organizing workflow and in optimizing methodologies and results.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
- In consultation with the Principal Investigator or other project manager, conducts bench level experiments and small independent research projects.
- Operates lab equipment and prepares and orders necessary supply stocks. May work with vendors to address equipment, reagent, or supply issues.
- Documents, compiles, and assists in interpreting experimental data. Reports data to supervisor in oral and written reports.
- May assist Technical Associate with determining the order of research processes that best support essential project goals.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to complete investigations.
- Prepares, orders, and maintains stocks of necessary reagents, solutions and supplies.
- May consult scientific literature as needed.
- Other tasks as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, plant biology or another field directly related to the work. Must have 1-2 years of experience in a research laboratory.
- Proficient in basic lab techniques and principles of molecular biology preferred.
- Genetic and molecular experience with Arabidopsis or other plant species a plus.
- Knowledge of various scientific databases and publications preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills required.
