Job Summary
The Farmer’s Market Specialist facilitates Naper Settlement Farmer’s Markets June - September. Responsible for providing a positive experience to vendors and guests through implementation and compliance of vendor agreements and for protecting the museum’s collection, buildings, and equipment from damage or loss.
Job Scope
The role is temporary and does not have staff supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. The Farmer’s Market Specialist is required to be at the assigned event dates, office hours, and meetings regarding the Naper Settlement Farmer’s Market (Farmer’s Market). This position will also be required to work the Naper Nights Community Concert Series, as scheduled. Attire will be logo wear on market days and business casual during office hours. This individual will provide information and assistance to vendors as well as the public regarding the event and will work in tandem with Rental Attendants and Events Team.
ncipal Duties and Responsibilities
COORDINATES day-of Naper Settlement Farmer’s Markets logistics with Vendors and Naper Settlement Staff, including the Building and Grounds and Events teams.
COORDINATES set up and tear down of the Naper Settlements Farmer’s Market. This includes site marking, scheduling utility locates, vendor placement, necessary vendor power needs, pertinent banner placement, clean up, trash pickup, and any additional site preparation.
COMMUNICATES event summary, attendance, and issues to supervisor, Events and Building and Grounds Team before the end of the shift.
CREATES/EDITS work orders as needed/directed prior to each market day.
ENSURES contract compliance of vendors. This includes vendor communication, attending/scheduling pre-event meetings and walk-throughs with vendors.
ADHERES to the museum’s rules and regulations and ensures vendors’ compliance, including vendor arrival and departure times.
WORKS in a collaborative and flexible manner with all institutional staff.
PERFORMS all other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
Ability to operate office equipment to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.
Ability to think pro-actively and work in a flexible manner with staff, vendors, and guests.
Ability to walk, sit, or stand for an hour or more at a time.
1. Ability to distinguish colors.
Ability to closely examine computer screens or written reports.
Ability to read, comprehend and speak English and be able to demonstrate twelfth grade reading skills.
Ability to lift 25 or more pounds.
Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
A commitment of 16 weeks during the summer is required. The Farmer’s Market Specialist will work approximately 16 hours per week beginning June 6, 2024, through September 17, 2024. Weekly hours will be scheduled in advance and are subject to change. Applicants must be a high school graduate and previous event experience of 2-3 years is preferred.
