Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will manage accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the accounts payable function, fixed assets, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.

 This person must be solutions oriented, resourceful, eager to grow and develop this role, and able to clearly communicate needs/opinions/processes.

A newly created position that will report to the Financial Controller.  

The position is NOT a hybrid and requires to be in person from 9am to 6pm as the site is a 24/7 facility.    

The accountant will be doing the following:

• • A/P (input, process, file electronically, 1099’s, etc.)
  • F/A (Fixed assets – input, process prepare depreciation journal entry and post).   Also, will work on CIP (Construction-In-Process). 
  • G/L (month closes on a 5 to 6 days cycle) as financials are prepared in SAT for P&L and Balance Sheet.   Audited by a 3rd party auditor on a quarterly basis. 
  • Taxation (Local, State and Federal)
  • Procurement – assist in sourcing for Operations for consumable items as does have a Global Procurement department that sources for major equipment and raw material
  • Risk and Strategy
  • Audit

We are in a shared service concept in which India will supports for (A/R – invoicing, collection), Costing, Procurement, Engineering etc.  The current team structure at SAT is – Controller, A/P Specialist and File Clerk.   With (2) accountants in India that support SAT as well.  

Outside of technical skills, this is an environment that is constantly evolving as we are still in growth mode.   Therefore, some procedures will need to be developed (SOP, accounting policies) as some have already been created.  

Requirements

×        2-3 years’ experience, subledger of accounting, AP/fixed assets, GL

×        MUST understand the flow of AP and the flow of fixed assets (vendor progress payments)

×        Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related.
