Job Description

Internet Testing Systems (ITS) is seeking a Front End Designer to join our Baltimore, MD Location. Please note, local applicants only and no 3rd parties.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a self-motivated Front-End web designer that is responsible for frontend web design, development and applying their expertise to build and add to best in class web solutions. This role allows you to be a part of a dynamic software development team, as well as have opportunities to influence other key projects.

Generic responsibilities include:

  • Analyze requirements, design pages, and build best in class UI/UX front-end web pages.
  • Work within a team environment or individually on projects and tasks as determined by team management.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, fix bugs and address other issues. Work cohesively with QA and Support as necessary.
  • Follow established department standards, practices, and processes.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Communicate risks early and often to team management.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet defined goals. Provide ideas and display initiative in the improvement of the processes and tools already in use.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

3-5 years working experience within the following areas:

Design

  • Ability to create beautiful and professional websites (must provide samples of recent work)
  • Creating cross device & cross browser compliant websites

HTML (including HTML5)

  • Hand coding new markup and editing existing code (without the aid of a WYSIWYG text editor)
  • Building semantic markup
  • Meeting W3C accessibility guidelines
  • Optimizing code for maximum performance

CSS/CSS3

  • Creating responsive designs through use of media queries
  • Using grid systems
  • Optimizing code for maximum performance (use of image sprites, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a CSS pre-processor (SASS or .LESS)

Tools

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Acrobat

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of javascript/jQuery (beneficial but not required)
  • Experience with Visual Studio IDE, SQL (beneficial but not required)
  • Share and collaborate with peers for the quality and improvement of best practices, testing, and building.
  • Must be a strong coder who takes pride in quality craftsmanship.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility, including knowledge of and the ability to solve common associated issues as well as investigate and troubleshoot complex inconsistencies.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or real-world experience.
