Job Description

Job Fair: On-site- HIRING Production Technicians, Production Assemblers, Material Handlers, and Quality Inspectors. 

When: Thursday, May 9th, 2024

Where: Smiths Detection- 2202 Lakeside Blvd Edgewood, MD 21040 (Park in parking lot, walk to left side of building and follow signs to Raven's Room to sign-in and register)

Time: 10am- 2pm

On-site Mechanical/Technical Testing and Interviewing

**Must bring a valid government issued ID**

*Must be willing to undergo a background check and drug screen if offered the position*

ROLE DUTIES

Electronic Test Technicians

We are seeking individuals with a strong Mechanical/Electrical Background

  • Responsible for checks to specifications/processes on parts or assemblies requiring further processing before being completed for use in Assembly.
  • Entry level knowledge of basic schematic reading, wiring procedures, soldering techniques, use of test equipment, and basic electronic troubleshooting theory
  • Assembles and tests various parts and subassemblies per process.
  • Troubleshoots tested product to identify workmanship defects, suspect and/or defective components and assemblies.
  • Checks produced parts per operation standards, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), and are is responsible for quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Must read blueprints, analysis sheets, and specifications.

Mechanical Assemblers

We are seeking individuals with a strong Mechanical/Assembly Background

  • Assembles/produces simple parts and subassemblies using various equipment, devices, tools, gauges, etc. Simple parts and subassemblies are characterized as
    • Items that have limited part counts (typically < 20);
    • And/or can be completed in less than one hour (total manual operations / unit);
    • And/or are produced via processes which are repetitive in nature.
  • Checks produced parts per operation inspection standards; responsible for quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Prefer one (1) year related assembly experience.
  • Prefer Soldering experience (IPC-J-STD-001).
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude
  • Must have capacity to read blueprints, work instructions, analysis sheets, specifications, etc.

Material Handler

No experience required - forklift certification and warehouse experience preferred

  • Receives, sorts and issues material using current MRP database.
  • Performs cycle counts in accordance with cycle count process.
  • Uses problem solving skills to troubleshoot Receiving problem shelf.
  • Requires the use of various tools
  • Forklift and Reach Truck Operation
  • Assembles crates and other packaging containers as required
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of designated areas

Quality Inspector

Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and MRP systems, ability to interpret engineering drawings 

  •  Perform First Article and First Piece inspections and sample approvals.
  • Perform First Piece, In – Process and Final Inspection of products produced by manufacturing.
  • Perform electrical testing on electronic assemblies, as required
  • Perform dimensional measurements on supplied and manufactured materials.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect materials using Inspection Sampling Plans.
  • Document and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Comply with all applicable U.S. export and security regulations.

Other duties may be assigned.

SALARY INFORMATION

  • Assembler- Starting at $22.88
  • Technician- Starting at $27.85
  • Material Handler- Starting at $21.84
  • Quality Inspector- Starting at $22.88
