The Material Controller will work closely with procurement, suppliers, logistics providers, warehouse and laydown-yard teams, subcontractors, QA/QC, EHS, project leadership, and field construction crews to support safe and timely project execution.
The ideal candidate has direct experience supporting semiconductor construction or high-tech industrial materials operations, including ERP or materials-management systems, inventory control, receiving, material forecasting, and shortage tracking. The candidate must be comfortable working with construction drawings, BOMs, pipe, valve, electrical, and other technical materials, as well as sensitive components requiring cleanliness, traceability, preservation, and quality controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Planning & Construction Readiness- Align material readiness with project schedules, look-ahead plans, field work packages, construction sequencing, and subcontractor execution requirements.
- Forecast material needs based on upcoming construction activities, installation plans, project milestones, and field demand.
- Review material requirements using purchase orders, Bills of Materials, construction drawings, specifications, material requisitions, and project documentation.
- Identify shortages, missing materials, long-lead items, delivery risks, and potential impacts to field execution.
- Escalate potential material delays, shortages, or readiness concerns to the Project Manager, Superintendent, Scheduler, procurement team, and field leadership.
- Support material allocation planning to ensure required materials are available for the correct work areas, trades, installation phases, and project priorities.
- Maintain visibility of material status from procurement through delivery, storage, release, field distribution, and final installation.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders, BOMs, drawings, specifications, delivery documentation, material certifications, and quality requirements.
- Confirm material quantities, part numbers, condition, traceability information, storage requirements, and documentation accuracy upon receipt.
- Identify damaged, missing, incorrect, expired, contaminated, or nonconforming materials and coordinate appropriate follow-up with procurement, suppliers, QA/QC, and project teams.
- Track and control inventory using ERP systems, materials-management platforms, spreadsheets, or client-specific project software.
- Maintain accurate inventory logs, material records, receiving reports, stock levels, location tracking, allocation plans, and material status reports.
- Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, material audits, and physical verification activities as required.
- Ensure material records remain current, accurate, organized, and available to relevant project stakeholders.
- Coordinate material distribution to field areas, cleanroom build-out zones, MEP and wet-mechanical installation areas, tool-install locations, warehouse areas, and laydown-storage locations.
- Manage storage, preservation, identification, and protection of materials in warehouse, laydown-yard, outdoor, and semi-controlled environments.
- Help protect sensitive materials from weather exposure, contamination, moisture, damage, misidentification, theft, and improper handling.
- Coordinate material movement, staging, delivery timing, and work-area release with warehouse teams, logistics providers, subcontractors, and field crews.
- Support cleanroom and semiconductor material-control requirements, including cleanliness, traceability, packaging, labeling, and preservation standards.
- Assist with organizing warehouse, storage, laydown, and field-staging areas to support safe and efficient material flow.
- Coordinate with EHS and site teams to ensure materials are stored, handled, and distributed in compliance with safety and project requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement teams, suppliers, logistics providers, subcontractors, site management, QA/QC, EHS, and field teams to support timely material flow.
- Follow up with suppliers and logistics providers regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, backorders, documentation, lead times, and material discrepancies.
- Communicate material readiness, delivery updates, shortages, allocation plans, and risk items clearly to project stakeholders.
- Support coordination of delivery windows, loading and unloading activities, dock usage, laydown planning, and material-handling requirements.
- Participate in project meetings, material-readiness meetings, look-ahead reviews, logistics discussions, and coordination meetings as needed.
- Provide timely updates regarding open material issues, inventory concerns, delivery risks, and required corrective actions.
- Support practical solutions to prevent material-related delays and maintain continuity of construction activities.
- Maintain accurate material documentation, including delivery notes, packing slips, requisitions, material certifications, allocation plans, inventory logs, receiving reports, and compliance records.
- Prepare daily and weekly material status reports, shortage reports, inventory summaries, delivery updates, and project-material dashboards as required.
- Track material-related action items, open issues, nonconforming materials, pending deliveries, and required follow-up activities through resolution.
- Support QA/QC requirements related to material inspections, certifications, traceability, receiving records, and quality documentation.
- Ensure materials are documented and controlled in accordance with company, client, semiconductor, and project-specific requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve materials planning, inventory accuracy, storage practices, reporting, and construction-readiness processes.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Ability to work onsite in an active semiconductor construction, warehouse, laydown-yard, or industrial project environment.

- Familiarity with semiconductor material cleanliness, preservation, traceability, packaging, labeling, and quality-control requirements.
- Experience coordinating warehouse operations, laydown yards, delivery scheduling, field material distribution, and construction logistics.
- Experience supporting long-lead material tracking, procurement-expediting activities, delivery-risk management, and material-readiness reporting.
- Familiarity with quality records, material certifications, inspection documentation, and nonconforming-material processes.
- Experience using client-specific material-control software, warehouse-management systems, inventory platforms, or construction-management systems.
- Bilingual English/Mandarin Chinese communication skills are a plus, but not required.
