Equipment Operator - Wheel Loader Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wheel Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Wheel Loader. The Wheel Loader operator must have physical strength, excellent hand-eye coordination, and endurance for physical work in all climates. Operators must be able to concentrate on assigned tasks and be able to perform duties in an efficient and timely manner while paying extreme attention to detail and safety. The ability to understand and communicate information is essential; and bilingual applicants are especially encouraged to apply. This position reports to Warehouse Manager which ultimately falls under General Manager.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate the Wheel Loader and other equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required production schedules and proper feed rates of materials into drum feeder and/or in-feed conveyors
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Loader.
• Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Loader.
• Operate other equipment and perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
• Able to follow instructions for operating equipment and record keeping
  
• Able to execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
• Able to maintain a clean & safe environment
• Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience operating a Wheel Loader or similar equipment in recycling, construction, or similar industries.
• Knowledge of Wheel Loader and other heavy equipment.
• Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
• Must have valid driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Extensively use hands and fingers to manage or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• Regular sitting in Wheel Loader a powered industrial trucks
• Frequently lift up to fifty pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for extended periods of time 
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Having a good sense of balance 
• Having good eye-hand-foot coordination 
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights 
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season 
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
