Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant position plays an important role in our company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance. This position is responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reporting. Responsibilities also include analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine and maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, variances, and other financial activities.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Knowledge of construction progress (AIA) billing
- Provide accounting, related activities including monthly entries, monthly and annual closing, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and controls
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reporting package
- Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations and ensure appropriate and timely resolutions of reconciling items
- Process and post credit card statements ensuring accurate general ledger coding
- Process and reconcile physical inventories
- Review financial statements to budgets, identify and explain variances
- Maintain written operating procedures for all standard processes of the position, maintain supporting documentation
- Assist Job Cost Accountant as necessary
- Assist with 3rd party annual audit(s)
- Assist with various tasks as assigned by the Controller and/or Management as requested
- Work with the Accounting team to perform other duties as required
- Participates in and recommends improvements in current procedures to standardize and enhance information flow
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to accounting transactions

Experience and Education:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated broad technical knowledge of accounting techniques
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with accounting software.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
Preferred:
- Bilingual
- Masters Degree in Accounting

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
- This job operates in an indoor professional office or job site environment. May work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. In addition, the employee may occasionally be exposed to various extreme conditions at different work locations.
- Employees will be exposed to moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phones, printers, and light foot traffic).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is occasionally active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
- Must be able to move objects that weigh 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
Position Type, Expected Hours of Work, and Travel:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary but equate to 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
