Job Description

Trinity Christian Academy is seeking for highly motivated, detail-oriented, experienced upper school Athletic Director who is passionate about God to join its growing faculty for the 2024-2025 school year.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervisory

  • Initiates the recruitment and selection of coaches and makes employment recommendations to the School Administrator.
  • Supervises and evaluates all coaches, providing every coach a yearly evaluation

General

  • Provide administrative direction and oversight for all athletics programs and activities.
  • Supervise the control, issuance and maintenance of recreational athletic equipment and facilities.
  • Creates, reviews and evaluates all athletic scheduling, making sure that there are no major conflicts with the TCA master calendar.
  • Supervises the preparation and verifies all athletic eligibility lists.
  • Supervises athletic contests and acts as the host to officials and visiting schools.
  • Oversees the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest. Arranges for personnel to supervise contests as needed.
  • Supervise full and part-time athletics staff including shared responsibility for hiring, disciplining or firing decisions and full responsibility for training, mentoring, and evaluating coaches and athletics staff.
  • Coach at least one sports team and coordinate activities of all other coaches, teams and recreational athletics groups.
  • Plan, implement, and promote the athletic ensuring an active intramural program, and developing athletic and recreational programs for the Elementary School.
  • Coordinate with the TCA Director of Advancement in the preparation of press releases and the arrangement of media coverage for athletic events and insure that the appropriate media is informed of the results of all athletic events.
  • Represent TCA at all leagues, district, region or state athletic meetings.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by School Administrator.

Budget

  • Shared responsibility for the development and adherence to Athletics department budget.
  • Supervises athletic funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the athletic program and submits it to the School Administrator.
  • Orders all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
  • Oversees the preparation of purchase orders for the athletic department expenditures.
  • Approve and coordinate all team purchases.
  • Approve decisions, requests, expenditure and recommendations according to agreed guidelines and policies.
  • Review monthly budget report to determine appropriate spending allowances for the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Much serve as a spiritual role model and display a Christ-like attitude when implementing school policies and procedures.
  • Must display a Christ-like attitude when relating with faculty, staff, parents, students and others.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of trust.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate well, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to organize and maintain multiple responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate cooperation in scheduling and planning to assure the goals and objectives of the school are being realized.
  • Demonstrate a firsthand knowledge of current policies, procedures and programs of the school.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA Degree in Education or Physical Education preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience for Varsity or college level teams.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Florida Athletic Coaching certificate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this class. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level is usually moderately quiet. Occasional evening, weekend and/or holiday hours are required on an as-needed basis.
