Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Foreman specializing in drilling and locating to join our construction team at Lighting Maintenance Inc. As a Foreman, you will play a vital role in overseeing drilling operations and ensuring accurate and efficient locating of underground utilities. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team of workers.

Responsibilities:

Drilling Operations:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate drilling activities according to project requirements and specifications.
  • Operate and maintain drilling equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety standards.
  • Manage the transportation of the directional drill and associated equipment to project sites.
  • Monitor drilling operations to ensure efficient progress and adherence to project timelines.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure drilling activities align with project plans.
  • Conduct site assessments and surveys to identify potential drilling challenges or hazards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures for drilling activities.
  • Maintain a detailed daily drill log, documenting activities, challenges, and achievements.
  • Complete safety forms, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and site inspections as required.


Utility Locating:
  • Monitor and track Miss Utility Tickets to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide regular updates on the status of Miss Utility Tickets to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contact Miss Utility, designated representative, and other persons/companies involved to resolve issues and/or coordinate tasks
  • Utilize various techniques and equipment to accurately locate underground utilities, such as water lines, gas lines, and electrical cables.
  • Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and as-built drawings to determine the location and depth of utilities.
  • Operate utility locating equipment, such as ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic locators, to identify and mark utility lines.
  • Train and supervise team members on proper utility locating techniques and equipment operation.
  • Collaborate with utility companies and local authorities to obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and assessment of utility locating activities to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

Safety and Marking Concerns:
  • Oversee safety protocols to prevent strikes and accidents.
  • Ensure proper marking of concerns and adherence to safety regulations by contacting Miss Utilities, their designated contacts...etc
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and address safety concerns promptly.

Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and lead a team of drilling and locating personnel, providing guidance and support.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and experience.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate project updates, safety protocols, and performance expectations.
  • Train new team members on drilling and locating procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation. Encourage and develop seeking new skills- CDL license, equipment operator training
  • Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and productivity.


Inventory Management:
  • Manage inventory of drilling equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure an adequate supply of materials for ongoing projects.

New Work Generation and Work Order Creation ( Future Growth Potential):
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify opportunities for new directional drilling projects.
  • Generate leads and actively seek new business opportunities.
  • Estimate project requirements accurately and participate in the generation of new work orders based on client needs and project specifications.

Qualifications:
  • CDL A Driver license
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical or vocational training in drilling and locating (preferred).
  • Previous experience as a Foreman or in a similar supervisory role in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in utility locating methods and equipment, including GPR and electromagnetic locators.
  • Familiarity with reading utility maps, blueprints, and as-built drawings.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work 10 hours a day, 40-50 hours a week
