Irrigation Technician

Position Summary: Maintain & enhance irrigation systems. Ensures the optimum operation for all irrigation systems. Preform system start-ups and winterization. Estimate time and materials needed to make repairs or upgrades. Good knowledge of piping, wiring, & controllers for landscaping sprinkler systems. Responsible for making repairs and troubleshooting and enhancing existing systems to make them more efficient.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Maintain irrigation systems for commercial properties.
• Dig trenches and install pipes, valves, and sprinkler head.
• Use power tools and hand tools to complete irrigation projects.
• Perform repairs and troubleshoot on existing irrigation systems.
• Ensure proper water coverage and distribution for lawns, gardens, and landscapes.
• Weekly and daily scheduling of irrigation service and installation projects.
• Coordinate materials, purchase for projects, and maintain service inventory.
• Responsible for maintaining communication and strong working relationship with operations & account management team.
• Conduct and record detailed inspections and plan/execute upgrades as necessary for client irrigation systems.
• Maintain and care for company equipment, tools, and vehicles.
• Forecast equipment, labor and material needs to ensure efficient production.
• Track materials and time on service work orders and submit daily according to current processes and procedures.
• Repair and maintain valves, trace electrical components, install and initialize clocks and timers, locate existing zones and valves.
• Supervise irrigation team and support staff members if necessary.
• Must maintain a professional appearance & attitude.

Education, Experience and Skills requirements:

• 5 years of previous experience in irrigation maintenance required.
• Knowledge of various commercial irrigation system components and their functions
• Familiarity with power tools and hand tools used in irrigation work
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with irrigation systems.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Irrigation Association Certifications not required but preferred.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Repair all aspects of an underground irrigation system.
• Install, operate, & program all lawn irrigation controllers
• Troubleshoot and repair any irrigation issues, including 2 or 3 wire systems, leaks, general maintenance, and system upgrades.

Physical Demand Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in all types of weather.
• Be available to work 24/7 with the ability to respond quickly and with a sense of urgency

• Must possess current valid driver license
• Must be able to travel to work sites
