Areas of Focus

The Direct of Advancement will work as a leader in our school helping create an environment where we are of one purpose, partnering with parents to cultivate their child’s heart and mind, teaching all of these to recognize what Christ identifies as true, good and beautiful.  This person will help create a culture that naturally and readily accepts that academic development is a subset of discipleship and that developing students spiritually is more important than developing them academically. The Director of Advancement will manage, coach, monitor and direct a development and marketing team focused on optimization of the following areas: the development and generation of multiple additional revenue streams, donor relations/development, foundation development, fundraising, strategic partnerships, advertising, promotion, marketing efforts and an internet and social media strategy for Shiloh Christian Academy Foundation (SCA). The position will build and direct a team and the subsequent use of marketing tools to promote enrollment, student retention, logical business extensions, sponsorship and other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Head of School.

 

Specific Responsibilities

The Director of Advancement takes responsibility for the following key functions:

  • Support and align performance of position with the Vision and Mission of the school as stated in Schedule “A” attached.
  • Adhere to and behave in a manner consistent with the Statement of Faith as stated in Schedule “B” attached.
  • Help create a culture and environment where students accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through your witness and Christian role modeling.

·         Helping to create, optimize and maximize non-education revenue.

·         Optimizing and maximizing development funding and donations from efforts including but not limited to:

a.       Annual giving program;

b.       Campaigns;

c.       Foundations;

d.       Planned giving program;

e.       Corporate strategy;

f.        External donor strategy;

g.       Government grant program;

·         Leading and developing a dynamic team of marketing, enrollment, business development, database management and fundraising personnel who will drive revenue to fund the efforts necessary to realize the SCA vision and mission.

·         Developing and implementing a “Spheres of Influence Strategy” that will create a linkage of influence between the school and the following:

a.       Parents and families;

b.       Churches;

c.       Friends of students;

d.       Media and entertainment used by students;

·         Engage the marketing, enrollment, revenue generation and development staff in innovative approaches to foster excellence within their functional areas;

·         Development of plans, budgets and reporting for all functional areas within the DA’s span of control;

 

 

·         The DA is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the revenue generation, fundraising and development efforts of SCA:

a.       Further developing, managing and directing the enrollment effort of the school;

b.       Further developing, managing and directing the business development efforts of SCA;

c.       Further developing, managing and directing the fundraising and development efforts of SCA;

d.       Further developing, managing and directing the strategic initiatives effort of SCA;

·         Facilitate high quality professional development of personnel;

a.       Accurately identify and prioritize professional development needs;

b.       Provide resources and time for personnel to advance professional development;

  • With the Head of School:
    1. Develop strategies and long-range planning;
    2. Develop mission aligned Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to ensure feedback and performance;

·         Serve as an active member Leadership;

·         Reinforce the vision and mission with staff and inspire them to act on the mission every day;

·         As a team, convey energy, enthusiasm and optimism in all interactions with the other departments, helping them to see that they are an important part of something greater than themselves;

  • Development and monitoring of budget to individual budget holders;
  • Management, hiring and termination of staff within span of control;
  • Annual Staff review process and general staffing matters;

Professional Qualifications

The Director of Advancement will have the following qualifications:

·         Strong leadership ability

·         Experience in management, development, marketing and/or sales;

·         Confident, driven and dynamic leader;

·         Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and seize opportunities;

·         Superior verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills;

 

Position Profile

In order to successfully respond to the challenges of the role, the Director of Advancement will be a highly motivated individual with superior management and interpersonal skills and should represent as many as possible of the below mentioned characteristics (both personal and professional experience):

·         Be a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating Christ-Like character and the Fruits of the Spirit;

·         Strong understanding of the SCA organization and a belief and passion for its mission and vision;

·         An inspirational leader able to motivate staff to achieve objectives, operate with integrity and aspire to develop an authentic Christ-like environment;

·         Proven ability to develop and manage a team;

·         Proven ability to plan, initiate and complete projects on a timely basis, multi-tasking and prioritizing work, goal oriented;

·         A team player;

·         A strong understanding of business requirement gathering and delivery of solutions that meet defined needs of internal and external customers;

·         Ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets;

·         Strong relationship building skills, experience in development or sales is considered an asset;

·         Engaging, friendly personality with a confident, outgoing and positive attitude;

·         Innovative and creative thinker, able to inspire others and encourage them in new pursuits;

 

Operating Model

·         Co-operative Relationships:  Director of Finance, Multiple school Deans

·         Participate in weekly leadership meetings as required;

·         Participate in bi-monthly One-on-One Meetings with the Head of School to review priorities, opportunities and issues;

Statement of Faith

We believe that the Holy Bible is the very Word of God in its entirety and, therefore, is our only authority in matters of faith and practice. There are no other writings that can add to or take away from the truth of the Holy Bible.

 

We believe in one God, creator of the universe, eternally existing in the persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

 

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, crucified for our sin, and raised from the dead in eternal victory.  He is undiminished deity and genuine humanity in one person.

 

We believe that faith alone in Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, is the only way to eternal life.

We believe that Heaven is the abode of God and the place of eternal joy for the saved, and that Hell is the place of eternal punishment of separation from God for the lost.

 

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a personal Being who convicts the world of sin and who regenerates, indwells, empowers, guides, and seals believers eternally for God.

 

We believe that God created man in His own image, and when man disobeyed God, he fell from grace and brought sin into the world.  We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10).

 

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for the salvation of lost sinners, and those who receive the Lord Jesus Christ, by faith, are born again into the family of God.

 

We believe that the family of God is the Church, which is the body of believers of which Christ is the head.

 

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.  These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27).  Further, we believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen 2:18-25).
