The Company
VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA (formally VINCI Construction LLC) is a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets with its main office located in Alexandria, Virginia. The scope of the company is general contracting and construction work, along with any associated services related to large, selected Design and Build projects, either public or private for which it can bring clear and strong added value. We aim to develop engineering and construction services for large infrastructure projects in various parts in the United States and provide a highly skilled and competitive professional service in construction field.
Project Overview
The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project - the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).
The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue.

Responsibilities:
As a Field Engineer, you are responsible for supporting the Area Manager, Project Engineer and Superintendents in the field and office.
  • Perform take-off of quantities and activities from drawings or other documents for creation of Design/Purchase/Construction schedule.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Design/Construction Engineers for the establishment of their schedule.
  • Create and maintain Design/Purchase/Construction schedules based on specific requirements from multiple departments.
  • Update, maintain, and revise monthly and weekly schedules and reports.
  • Compare, and report on comparisons of monthly schedules with regards to changes, delays, or accelerations.
  • Participated in the preparation of TIAs (Time Impact Analysis) for the purpose of analyzing and implementing mitigation procedures to the project schedule.
  • Identify warnings and risks to the project for the purpose of mitigating the impact of these risks.
  • Analyze monthly schedules and prepare reports for the purpose of dispute resolution.
  • Participate in the preparation of baseline CPM Schedule.
  • Support change order preparation regarding time impacts and delays.
  • Assist in the analyzing competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Populate schedule with resource and cost information.
  • Assist in reviewing MOT design during all stages of development, consulting with necessary disciplines and project stakeholders on the project.
  • Assists the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed.
  • Reviews required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.

Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited institution.
  • 0-3 years' Engineering experience in civil and structural works.
  • Ability to interface and effectively communicate with others.
  • Proven skill and ability to identify and mitigate scheduling issues for simple and complex construction projects.
  • Proficient with the generation and maintenance of cost and resource loaded schedules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to self-prioritize and self-start projects and task work.
  • Ability work under pressure and to effectively multi-task similar activities in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of traffic management principles and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred
  • Familiarity with CTA standards is strongly preferred.
  • Previous MOT, Utilities, and/or Roadway works heavy civil construction experience preferred

Salary Range:
  • $80,000.00 - $100,000.00

Work Environment:
  • Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment.
  • Work in environmental extremes of heat and cold, dependent upon job location.
  • Fast-paced environment that may require long hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, kneeling.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders.
  • Frequent work in dusty environments.
  • Frequent work in areas of excessive noise.
  • Work variable hours, including overtime hours as needed.
