About the Medical Scribe

Upperline Health California is seeking a Medical Scribe in the Columbus office. Responsibilities will include documenting accurate and detailed information of patient visits and assisting the physician with patient care. The candidate must be professional, punctual, have great attention to detail and be compassionate for patient needs.

Responsibilities of the Medical Scribe
  • Enter/update all areas of patient history into electronic charts in the EMR system
  • Transcribe patient visits including physician's diagnosis and treatment plan into the EMR system completely and in a timely manner (4 business days)
  • Collaborate with the physician regarding proper documentation of E&M visits, procedures and DME dispensing as required by various insurance companies
  • Assist the physician with patient care and treatments
  • Complete paperwork required for FMLA, disability and/or excuse notes
  • Maintain a clean and professional environment


Qualifications of the Medical Scribe
  • Previous experience the assisting in the medical field - healthcare clinic setting is preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of medical assistance experience is preferred
  • 1 year of Podiatry or Orthopedic specialty experience is preferred
  • Knowledgeable of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance company clinical policies and local coverage determinations (LCDs)
  • Ability to work the same schedule as the physician required
  • Previous experience working in an EMR - athenahealth EMR is a plus
  • Must be an effective communicator with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate and professional demeanor with each interaction
  • Demonstrated experience as a reliable and dedicated co-worker
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment that relies on the ability to multi-task, yet is still able to balance that energy and drive with sensitivity and compassion
  • High school graduate required

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience.
