Web Developer

The role:

We are looking for a Web Developer to join our growing Professional Services team. The Web Developer role at Miva is an exciting and fast paced position that will challenge you with new problems to solve and new technologies to learn.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to become an expert in ecommerce strategies and best practices. You will work with clients in a wide array of industries and be instrumental in positioning their online store to outshine and outperform their competitors. You will work and collaborate with our all-star team of Web Developers and industry professionals, who have decades of combined experience in both web development and in the ecommerce space.

Miva is a remote company with team members all across the country with the majority of the web development team based in the pacific time zone. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working within those business hours.

You will:

• Work within a highly collaborative team-based agile development environment to build custom ecommerce solutions for a wide variety of exciting, industry-leading clients

• Scope and provide estimates for creative solutions to unique and challenging problems

• Work closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, and UX Designers to complete projects on time, within scope, and with a high level of quality

• Develop web applications that are reliable, performant, meet accessibility standards, and are characterized by intuitive usability

• Perform debugging, data analysis, and system analysis as required

• Participate in website quality assurance activities, including code reviews, integration, regression, and performance testing

  You have:

• 3+ years of experience (corporate or freelance) in web development, preferably working on an ecommerce platform within an agile environment

• Advanced proficiency in web technologies: HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript

• Advanced skills developing for a mobile-first and/or responsive web framework

• Experience working with API web services such as integrations with third party ERP, distribution systems, warehousing, and payment gateways

• Knowledge and understanding of web requests and responses (HTTP)

• Experience working with APIs (REST, SOAP, XML-RPC, JSON-RPC)

• Experience working with content management systems (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal)

• Basic understanding of optimizing sites and webpages for performance, page speed, and SEO

• Ability to learn and use new technologies and languages quickly

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that requires attention to multiple projects and tasks

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Professional and proactive work ethic

• Open minded. Welcomes new challenges and respectful of different points-of-view

  Bonus points if you have:

• Familiarity with PHP5

• Strong understanding of RDBMS

• Experience developing secure applications adhering to PCI compliance standards
