YPR is a national, peer-led organization that serves youth and young adults in recovery from substance use disorder. YPR aims to improve access to resources such as housing, education and employment that sustain long-term recovery.

YPR’s mission is to provide the life skills and peer supports to help people recover from substance use disorder and reach their full potential.
Chapter Vision and Overview:
Young People in Recovery Chapters support people in or seeking recovery by providing community-based recovery support services. Chapters also advocate on the local and state levels for more access to these services and other effective recovery resources. This peer-based network relies on quarterly workshops, monthly pro-social events, and regular all-recovery meetings.

Essential Responsibilities:

Research Fellowship
Young People in Recovery is hiring a research fellow to assist in legislative research
The position will provide research support for issue advocacy; manage long-term research projects and monitor federal legislation in real-time. The Research Fellow will be responsible for supporting multiple research projects in the addiction and recovery services space. Responsibilities include: drafting and editing fact sheets, research backgrounds, research books, and documents related to this field. This position is remote and you will be required to provide paperwork from your school for Young People in Recovery to fill out for your college credits.
Responsibilities Include:
Working as part of a team to produce comprehensive research products on legislation in relation to recovery services
Collecting information from legislative votes, news clips, campaign finance reports, financial and legal records, and research databases;
Reporting results and findings to senior staff;
Performing rapid response research projects
Read candidate tracking reports and identify newsworthy events;
Other duties as assigned.
Required to provide paperwork from your college for YPR to fill out for college credit
Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Self-motivation, the ability to work independently;
Organizational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines a must;
Strong commitment to teamwork.
Note: This position is part-time, at 16 hrs/week

Official Title: Legislative Research Fellowship
Job Type: Part Time, 16 hours per week, (8hrs/day, 2 days per week)
Compensation: $15 per hour and can count towards college credits

Preferred qualifications:
Personal experience in recovery
Experience working successfully with young adults
Experience working successfully with people with substance use disorders
Experience working successfully with diverse communities
Previous training and certification in trauma-informed response, cultural competency, and peer education
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
