Position: Staff Pharmacist

Job Summary:

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the dispensing and monitoring of medication therapy in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. The role involves overseeing medication orders, ensuring the safe use of medications, and adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Pay range: (USD)46.53 hrly -(USD)64.91 hrly

Essential Job Functions:

• Regulatory Compliance: Complies with all state and federal regulations and medical center policies and procedures related to drug dispensing, including handling of drug products, security procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Order Review and Dispensing: Reviews and dispenses medication orders, ensuring accuracy and clarifying any potential issues with the orders.
• Medication Therapy Monitoring: Monitors patient drug therapy regimens for allergies, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, and potential adverse reactions.
• Admixture Preparation: Prepares admixtures using aseptic techniques, such as IV solutions, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and chemotherapy preparations.
• Unit Inspections: Conducts assigned unit inspections to ensure proper maintenance and storage of medication supplies, including emergency drug supplies.
• Supervision of Ancillary Personnel: Oversees activities of ancillary personnel such as pharmacy technicians and assistant/couriers.
• Medication Safety: Employs principles of safe medication practice as dictated by departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 40 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 4 hours a day.
• Patient Care: Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care as needed, including effective communication with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers.
• Organizational Competencies: Adheres to the standards identified in the medical center’s organizational competencies.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• 1 year Pharmacist experience.
• Knowledge of unit dose dispensing and principles of aseptic technique and related computer applications.
