General Summary
Rise Broadband is seeking an OSP Architect to continue building and supporting network expansion. The OSP Architect will analyze and onboard the latest outside plant infrastructure solutions with the lowest cost profiles and best constructability innovations. A successful candidate would have experience in development, engineering, analysis, and construction of telecom outside plant products and facilities in support of core network infrastructure and services.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate, create, maintain, and improve Rise OSP Engineering and Construction Standards
- Document outside plant platform, construction techniques, and network standards for engineering teams.
- Evaluate and select new systems and methods for boring and coring for fiber deployments
- Collaborate with OSP engineering leadership to scale make ready and aerial engineering competency
- Act as primary support to regional FTTH planning teams
- Specify fiber types used for builds to maximize optical system performance.
- Model proposed core network fiber builds using analysis of construction techniques, fiber duct, and fiber types.
- Work with Rise Broadband network engineering and construction teams and external construction contractors on using the newest solutions network builds
- Specify software and systems to enable network inventory, operations, and maximizing value of the assets.
- Work with cross functional peers to integrate fiber systems and tools into operations to ensure efficient long term network maintenance.
- Assist in other duties as needed and directed.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of FTTH deployment engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology required
- In depth understanding of communications service provider industry and core network construction; knowledge of network power and space management is a bonus.
- Proven ability to build economic cost models for core network fiber builds, new outside plant construction technology.
- Knowledge of accepted communications service provider engineering and operations practices.
- Good project management skills required to balance timelines and priorities of network construction and analysis projects.
- Experience working independently in the field, as well as part of team
- Possess excellent attention to detail with written, verbal, and presentation skills
Working Conditions
- Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
- Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
