Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, dollies, fork trucks, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical (not electronic) principles.
  • Record repairs, maintenance performed, parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, plastic or sheet metal fabrication, or associated work.
  • Communicate with coworkers and coordinate with subcontractors to manage installations or repairs.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to emergency or critical maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Ensure all tools, carts, ladders, forklifts are in proper working condition, following safety guidelines including point-of-work risk assessment and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
  • Operate manual mill and engine lathe to drill, profile, shape, and chamfer machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace faulty parts, electrical wires, motors, controls, circuit boards, building electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Comprehend complex schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Ability to follow electrical code manuals to perform maintenance and repair on industrial machinery and equipment.

Requirements, Tools, and Education

  • This position reports directly to the Production and Supply Chain Manager.
  • This position is considered regular, full-time, and requires a minimum in-office schedule of 40 hours per week. This may also include occasional travel.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, dependability, and cooperation.
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Must agree to (and pass) a background check, physical (if applicable), and drug screening testing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years’ experience in machinery mechanic role.
  • Hand and Power Tools (i.e., Wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, micrometers, calipers, tape measure, bore gauges, band saw, table saw, nail gun, lathe, drills, mill, etc.)
