Summary:

The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions of the company. Reporting directly to the VP, Business Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Coordinate and manage the financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, including revenue recognition and expense accruals.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

Develop and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) regulations.

Conduct periodic reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.

Work with business partners to foster the proper internal control environment.

Coordinate external audits with independent auditors and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development of annual operating budgets and long-term financial forecasts.

Monitor actual financial performance against budget and forecast, providing variance analysis and explanations to management.

Tax Compliance and Planning:

Work closely with internal tax team to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Oversee preparation of 1099s, property tax and sales tax returns.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and mentor a team of 4 accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the accounting department through leadership, hands-on mentoring and by example.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's/master’s degree in accounting; CPA certification highly preferred.

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Strong technical accounting knowledge and proficiency in GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting requirements.

Experience in a manufacturing or similar industry preferred.

Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), HFM, Blackline and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and senior management.

Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
