GENERAL SUMMARY

Under supervision of the VP Senior Credit Officer, the Credit Analyst I is an entry level credit analysis position within the Commercial Lending Department. Performs basic credit analysis and provides support to the commercial lending underwriting process. Performs all job responsibilities in conformance with established Credit Union policies and procedures as well as in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs the spreading of business financial statements and /or tax returns in both spreadsheets and Loan Origination System.
  2. Investigates credit history of members and prospects by ordering credit reports from Experian; conduct internet, good standing, and UCC searches as requested by relationship managers and credit department co-workers.
  3. Tracks Borrower and Guarantor tax returns, financial statements, personal financial statements, and rent rolls to ensure this financial information is current and in accordance with loan agreements.
  4. Assists Loan Administration in electronic filing of loan documents and establishing and maintaining member credit files.
  5. Completes basic annual loan reviews under direct supervision and submits to the Credit Analyst III for review.
  6. Prepares various SBA checklists as well as SBA origination and purchase packages for review by AVP Credit Officer/SBA Specialist.
  7. Learns and applies the Credit Union's commercial lending policy and procedures in day-to-day responsibilities.
  8. Attends training courses as assigned by the VP Senior Commercial Credit Officer.
  9. Performs other credit analyst duties, including special projects, as assigned by VP Senior Commercial Credit Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Bachelor's degree in relevant subject (accounting or finance preferred but not required) or currently enrolled in post-secondary education with a major in Business, Finance, Economics or related field.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  1. 0-2 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  2. Basic understanding of financial statements including; income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements required.
  3. Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  4. Familiarity with commercial loan products and services preferred.
  5. Must be very detail-oriented, analytical, and accurate working with numerical data.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments with flexibility in dealing with a changing work environment required.
  7. Ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a formal or informal team to accomplish Credit Department goals required.
  8. Must have strong service orientation in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values.
  9. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  10. Must be willing to advance credit analysis skills and knowledge through continued training and education.
  11. Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to fax, copier, telephone, etc. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. e.g., file boxes.
