Salary: 80,000-90,000 DOQ
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Water Reclamation Operations Manager, provides highly responsible and professional management of field operations in the Wastewater Operations Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the direction of the day-to-day work of Water Reclamation crews; assigns work to various crews; monitors the progress of work assignments daily; establishes priorities to deal with emergencies and unanticipated needs.
- Assesses and monitors workloads, staffing, and internal reporting relationships; identifies and implements opportunities for improvement and needed changes.
- Directs staff training and development; reviews and evaluates employee performance; implements disciplinary action and recommends termination procedures.
- Oversees maintenance and deployment of field operations vehicles and equipment.
- Provides technical oversight for operation and maintenance of Wastewater systems to field personnel.
- Lift station operations and maintenance.
- Maintenance and repairs of the collections system.
- Proper use of equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, etc.. and the ability to train others.
- Experience in sewer line repairs.
- Experience with SCADA operations.
- Monitor field staff activities for compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Communicates and coordinates with other management staff as necessary.
- Respond to critical events and emergency priorities at any time as needed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Methods, materials, tools, equipment, and best practices used in operating and maintaining a complete Wastewater system.
- Relevant Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Principles of training and personnel management.
- The use and care of specialized equipment related to Wastewater systems.
- Operations maintenance and proper record keeping.
ABILITY TO:
- Efficiently organize staff to accomplish multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Analyze and assess operational staffing needs and make appropriate adjustments.
- Select, train, manage, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff.
- Analyze and react to unusual or urgent situations and resolve them with application of established policies along with appropriate principles and practices of Wastewater utility systems.
- Read, write, speak, and present in a professional manner.
- Attend outside events, conferences, meetings, and training in support of District objectives.
- Understand and comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing the District.
- Maintain discreetness with sensitive District information, plans, and operations.
EDUCATIONAL AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- Class A Wastewater License, preferred. Minimum of Class B Wastewater License.
- Wastewater Collection III, preferred. Minimum of Wastewater Collection II.
- Combination of training and experience likely to provide required knowledge and abilities.
- Minimum five years of progressive responsibilities in a utility, with at least three years of direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license Class A CDL preferred and a satisfactory driving record, or out of state license transferability.
