About Seton College

Seton College is a new two-year college division of the University of Mount Saint Vincent that will offer an associate's degree for 100 students in its inaugural year who have been historically underserved, who may require additional academic support, and who are motivated for post secondary success annually beginning in the 2024-25 academic year. The program's goal is to prepare students to enroll in a bachelor's degree program or to begin their professional careers. Seton College students will study on the Riverdale Campus of UMSV and have full access to UMSV's facilities and programs.

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of Seton College. The Associate Dean is responsible for the development, maintenance, and on-going assessment of the curriculum and related programs of study for Seton College students and supports the faculty. As a core member, the Associate Dean works closely with the Dean of Seton College in the administration of the College, including support of the budget and general operations with key University offices.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all faculty and academic staff within the Seton College;
  • Provide leadership to Seton College, convening and presiding over regular faculty meetings
  • Manage all curricular operations within Seton College
  • Foster a student-centered educational environment responsive to diverse learner needs
  • Work with all constituents within Seton College in establishing faculty workload assignments
  • Collaborate with all constituents within Seton College to assure the course offerings, delivery, and schedule meet the needs of students
  • Collaborate with all constituents within Seton College to assure academic success and transition programming, delivery, and schedule meet the needs of students
  • Collaborate with all constituents within Seton College to assure student advising, academic assistance, and career planning meet the needs of students
  • Identify staffing needs consistent with Seton College mission and goals
  • Provide leadership in recruiting, hiring, evaluation, and retention of quality faculty and academic staff
  • Collect and compile data required for regulatory and accrediting bodies
  • Participate in budget development and when appropriate, approve departmental budget items
  • Participate in University-wide events
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Five to ten years of teaching/administrative experience in higher education, including direct experience working with non-traditional faculty, and students and with curriculum creation. Knowledge of curriculum development, NYS Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (H.E.O.P.), strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in dealing with complex academic and student issues, along with leadership and mentoring
  • Direct experience in budget planning, forecasting, development and administration
  • Advanced degree required. Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred.


The Associate Dean of Seton College is a salaried, exempt position with a 12-month work schedule

The allotted salary range for this position is $110,000 to $115,000; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
