Maintenance Technician (Bernard, Beecher, IL)

Primary Responsibilities

• Electrical maintenance- working on 480V 3-Phase, 208V 3-Phase, 120V, Buss Bars, MCC maintenance, conduit runs to support new equipment and maintain current equipment
• Mechanical maintenance - diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems on existing manufacturing equipment (e.g. crimpers, cable cutters, fixtures, etc.)
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment -manual, semi and/or automated, and resolve problems
• Mechanical upgrades - support for installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment identified through employee involvement or other toolbox projects
• Assist with the installation and set-up of existing or new equipment
• Facilities maintenance -focused on the building and facility infrastructure (e.g. HVAC, Plumbing)
• Understand and apply hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical principles and the mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance on such equipment
• Suggest corrective actions for re-occurring downtime or performance issues
• Maintain a preventative maintenance program
• Maintain a spare parts inventory system
• Must possess the ability to operate assigned equipment and the ability to read and understand operating instructions and interpret complex instructions, sketches, blueprints and proprietary programming codes
• Conduct and perform preventative maintenance on a regular scheduled basis
• Work with repair vendors to fabricate needed spare parts or fabricate them
• Manufacturing Engineering support - Work with Engineering which may include part fabrication, modifying existing equipment, carts, racks, fixtures, etc.
• PLC programming (DirectLogix) troubleshooting, maintenance, and new process programming
• Ability to recognize and identify parts, problems, and offer resolution
• Ability to run low voltage data lines (Cat6 Ethernet) for workstations and/or offices

Qualifying Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years' industrial experience
• Basic computer skills with ability to utilize email and internet
• Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
• Proficient in multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing tasks / projects
• Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management and work teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret all applicable blueprints, schematics and diagrams
• Demonstrated ability to perform minor carpentry and plumbing repairs and fabrication.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair machines and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.

Preferred Requirements

• 2 years' vocational school certification in industrial maintenance, electronics or equivalent and 5 years' experience as a maintenance/machine repair technician
• Proficient in machine shop math (including trigonometry and geometry)
• Electrical/Hydraulic licenses/certifications and/or others relevant to the operation are a plus
• Welding/fabrication/millwright experience
• PLC knowledge/experience
• Machining/Tooling and Design experience
• 8+ years of industrial manufacturing experience
