Optical Manager and Optician

Construction is almost done and we are looking for upbeat, energetic eye care team members to join us!  Our new facility has two optical positions available.  One for an Optical Manager and one for an Optician. 

We are looking for a social, friendly Optical Manager and Optician to work with our customers to find the most suitable eyewear for their needs.  Some of the tasks performed in the Optical includes recommending specific eyewear, take measurements, fit and adjust glasses, and teach customers to properly wear and care for their glasses or contact lenses.

To be a successful Optical Manager or Optician, you should have strong customer service, interpersonal, communication, leadership, and retail skills. You should be able to recommend specialized eyewear such as for sports and occupational use, as well as informing on and recommending tints and anti-reflective coatings.

We are currently in the process of moving, we will be seeing patients and training in our current location but moving to our brand new location 8/15/20. Must be comfortable traveling between the two locations until we are fully relocated.

Responsibilities include:

• Obtaining patient prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.
• Taking customer information and measurements of the ocular area.
• Recommending frames and occasionally contact lenses that suit the customer's style, face, and specifications.
• Adjusting and fitting frames according to the prescriptions and customer's specifications, as well as to suit the customer's face.
• Preparing work orders for use to manufacture the lenses.
• Using specialized equipment, such as calipers, lensometers, pliers, and lens gauges.
• Keeping inventory on frames to ensure product variety and customer satisfaction.
• Repairing and adjusting broken frames.
• Educating customers on how to wear and maintain glasses and occasionally contact lenses.
• Performing administrative duties, such as managing prescriptions, customer records, and insurance.

Requirements include:

• Customer Service and Sales background
• Team player
• Adaptable to new work environments
• Optical experience preferred, but not mandatory
• Willingness to continue learning as changes and new technologies occur in our field
