Description: We are looking for a dedicated Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team. The ISSO will be responsible for ensuring the security of our organization's information systems and networks in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance requirements.

Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Job Duties:

• Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
• Monitor and analyze security events and incidents to identify potential threats and breaches.
• Implement and maintain security controls, including access control, encryption, and authentication mechanisms.
• Coordinate with IT teams to ensure the timely patching and updating of systems and software.
• Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices for information security.
• Manage security incidents, including investigation, containment, and reporting to appropriate stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, GDPR, FISMA, FISCAM, FedRAMP and OMB).
• Maintain documentation of security controls, risk assessments, and incident response procedures.

• Security operations expertise, including security mechanisms such as firewalls, intrusion detection, log management, event and malicious code analysis
• Performs other duties as assigned

Security Clearance Requirements: Active Secret / Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) required. Candidates must already possess this clearance level upon applying.

Experience Requirements: CISSP, Preferred, SSCP, GIAC – GSEC, GCIH, GCIA, GPEN, GCED, GSNA, GSIP, GCFA, or GCFE certifications a plus. 

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of Cyber Security SOC Operations experience.

Desired Skills / Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of experience performing IT Security ISSO duties and/or managing a team of ISSO's, ArcSight, BigFix, Tenable Security Center / Nessus, McAfee Network and Host Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and McAfee Antivirus, Fireye Technologies, WebInspect, Git, Github or Gitlab experience 

Location: 90% remote and the preferred candidate will be in the Washington, DC or Fairmont, WV area.

Status: Full time

Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
