Lee Hartman & Sons, Inc. is looking for a Human Resource Generalist at our Roanoke office.

The ideal person for this position has proven expertise in Human Resources. This includes benefits administration, talent acquisition, compensation, reporting, benefits and training. To be a competent HR Generalist, you should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, leadership and coaching experience, a strong attention to detail along with a high level of integrity.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create a recruitment plan for positions
  • Responsible for recruitment and staffing of all level positions
  • Onboard newly hired employees to include education on HR policies and procedures
  • Confer with management and employees to gain knowledge of work situations that require training
  • Update Company policies and employee handbook
  • Create an employee performance and appraisal system
  • Create and maintain job descriptions for positions in all departments
  • Provide advice, guidance and assistance on interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Assist with compensation philosophy and classification of employees
  • Ensure distribution of required employee notices
  • Develop HR policies and procedures that align with best practices
  • Complete required reporting such as EEO-1, OSHA logs, VETS 4212, 5500s
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations relative to ACA, employee benefits, and ensure that related policies and procedures are in compliance
  • Oversee updating and compliance of Affirmative Action Plan. Ensure appropriate measures are being taken to meet benchmarks
  • Create and maintain files for employee documents, benefits and payroll in HRIS
  • Coordinate employee benefit programs, oversee eligibility and distribute enrollment materials
  • Handle employee relation issues and exit interviews in conjunction with managers
  • Coordinate and conduct management training related to various topics (terminations, interview techniques, harassment, FMLA, ADA and performance)
  • Lead investigations and advise on appropriate course of action
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements for Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia

 

Requirements:

  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Current knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA and other state and federal laws
  • Proficient in Office
  • Knowledge of HRIS   
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, business or related field
  • 3-5 years in of experience as an HR Generalist or in a role with similar responsibilities   
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification, preferred
