Job Description

FLSA Classification: Non Exempt, Part Time Seasonal

Salary Range: $14/hr

Reports to: Golf Course Manager

Date: February 2024

Summary

The Golf Clubhouse Personnel, under the direction of the Golf Course Manager, is primarily responsible for various aspects of the day to day operations of the course. Clubhouse Personnel may be trained and/or assigned to multiple areas of responsibility: Pro Shop, Starter, Cart Attendant, Player Assistant, and Driving Range.

Essential Duties

  • Keep carts clean from debris at all times
  • Make sure fluid levels are kept up
  • Make sure appropriate number of carts are staged for play
  • Checking carts for safe operation
  • Keep carts cleaned and in proper rotation to and from cart storage area
  • Keep cart staging area orderly in regards to proper parking of carts
  • Responsible to document when carts need maintenance
  • Assist the Golf Course Pro Shop staff as needed
  • Relate to the public in a polite and professional manner at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Pick up and return baskets to Ball Dispenser
  • Clean and pick up all balls on driving range, 1st fairway & 2nd fairway
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Maintain established starting time intervals in coordination with the golf shop staff to ensure pace of play
  • Inform and educate golfing customers about pace of play and golf etiquette
  • Enforce and implement the policies and procedures set forth by the Joliet Park District
  • Combine individuals into groups as needed
  • Maintain contact between the Starter, Player Assistant and the Pro Shop Clerk
  • Maintain daily records and prepare reports to supervisor all incidents, accidents and customer concerns
  • Perform light golf maintenance duties, such as filling divots, repairing ball marks and trash removal
  • Assist with tournaments and special events as needed
  • Service the Pro Shop and assist all patrons with their golf related needs
  • Responsible for operating a cash register and credit card machine to receive money for fees and merchandise
  • Answer phones and transfer calls as necessary
  • Book tee time reservations and check-in golfers as they arrive
  • Answer questions regarding all facets of golf operations
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
  • Maintaining the pro shop appearance by straightening, organizing, and stocking merchandising displays
  • Check in golfers
  • Check all receipts to ensure payment before play begins
  • Pair up singles and twosomes as necessary
  • Fill out starter sheet
  • Explain rules for the day
  • Have ability to positively handle customer interactions regarding pace of play and anything else that may arise on the course

Hours

Part Time, Seasonal position. May require days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work environment

While performing the duties of the job, employees will work in an outdoor setting. Employees will occasionally be asked to work inside to perform various tasks. A professional and courteous work environment must be maintained at all times.

While performing the duties of the job an employee must possess the ability to drive a gas and/or battery-operated golf cart, following safety guidelines. The employee is regularly required to: talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to touch, handle, grasp, push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to withstand a range of outside weather conditions (heat/cold, rain/snow, sunlight etc.)

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (i.e., professional ability to promptly and enthusiastically attend to customer needs)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage daily workload without constant supervision
  • Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns as needed
  • Ability to learn golf etiquette
  • Knowledge of the game of golf is a plus
