Job Description

  • Provide E&IC engineering support to proposal/project teams in the planning, design, execution, and commissioning for projects related to HZI products.
  • Review and coordinate work of other E&IC engineers, internal and external, in the execution of proposals and projects ensuring cost, quality, and schedule requirement are satisfied.
  • Determine engineering scope and set up an engineering work plan for the electrical discipline on complex projects for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), Engineering-Procure (EP) and Engineering-Procure-Construct (EPC), and Build-Own-Operate (BOO) type projects.
  • Preparation of E&IC documents such as Specifications/Datasheets, P&IDs, Electrical Load Lists, Instrument Lists, I/O Lists, Control Logic and Functional Control Descriptions, Single Line Diagrams, Instrument Location Drawings, and E-Room for projects.
  • Ensure HZI equipment and system designs are compliant with HZI Standards, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and local or national codes.
  • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of E&IC core knowledge-base for HZI products as well as adapt and configure established European designs to comply with North American market requirements.
  • Participate in Site Layout, 3D Model, and P&ID Reviews, as well as safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP).
  • Manage and lead complex technical discussions with key stakeholders (customers, business partners, suppliers, and other departments/disciplines) in order to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
  • Support formal studies, technical briefings, and presentations to key stakeholders (customers, business partners, suppliers, and other departments/disciplines).
  • Identify and evaluate improvement opportunities related to cost and/or schedule alternatives, options, and solutions and present clear and concise fact-based recommendations.
  • Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.  Be able to provide innovative technical solutions to resolve these issues.
  • Seek ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all work. 
  • Maintain compliance with work instructions, standard practices, policies and procedures, endorsing a safe work environment.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to multitask in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interface skills with key stakeholders, both internal and external (customer, suppliers, fabricators) to the organization.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required for presentations and reports.
  • Ability to lead effective meetings
  • Work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must facilitate good working relationships with superiors, peers, and direct reports.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor in a team environment.
  • Ability to make sound engineering and commercial decisions 
  • Exhibits high degree of initiative.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited institution. EIT/PE registration preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Software. 
  • Working knowledge of NEC required
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs required
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and protection techniques a plus
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61511) a plus
  • Knowledge of DCS, PLC, HMI/MMI, SCADA, programming, control and systems design is a plus.
  • Experience with proposal development, project execution, and site installation (start-up and commissioning) of complex industrial systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervisory roles and leadership positions for departments and/or medium to large scale industrial proposals and projects.
  • Experience preparing document packages such as Electrical and/or Instrumentation component specifications/datasheets, equipment sizing calculations, equipment lists, and P&IDs used to support Request for Quotes (RFQ) and final procurement of components, equipment, and systems.

  • On-site/field experience preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to talk or hear, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions:                   

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
