Nurse Practitioner

Job Type: Part Time 30 hours a week

Location: Bureau of Prisons, San Diego, California

Schedule Range: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-2PM)

Responsibilities: Included but not limited to

• • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population
  • Conduct medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory test, x-ray and other diagnostic testing
  • Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely and professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe medication utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary
  • Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting and immobilizing
  • attend to medical emergencies
  • Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
  • Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
  • Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of health care services
  • Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional or mental problems
  • Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
  • Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
  • Constantly be aware of security and maintain a professional relationship with inmates at all times

Requirements and Experience: Included but not limited to

• Valid California RN License
• Current CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator Card
• Providing verification of credentials
• Proof of Malpractice insurance
• Must have 1 year family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience
