About This Role:

Job Overview

The Teaching and Learning team is seeking a summer intern to assist in researching educational approaches and practices to support the development and enhancement of T&L services and assets. In this role the intern will be responsible for curating a diverse collection of multimodal instructional resources. These resources will include articles, videos, podcasts, guides, websites, blogs, as well as Open Educational Resources (OER). The focus of the research will center equity-focused, student-centered, and culturally responsive teaching and learning as it relates to T&L deliverables, services and assets. The intern will support staff across the teaching and learning team with presentations, projects, and service delivery. This internship will provide the intern with opportunities to contribute valuable insights to the team while enriching their educational journey.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Teaching and Learning team with research that will impact the development of new professional learning services and resources for faculty and faculty developers.
  • Conduct literature search to build a curated list of multimodal resources including articles, videos, podcasts, guides, websites and blogs, open educational resources (OER), books, and professional learning services (workshops, webinars, and courses).
  • Co-create measurement instruments (survey and interview questions) to support the continuous improvement process.
  • Create and design presentations (virtual and in person).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Practical Skills Development: Gain practical skills related to research, asset development, project coordination, content design and development, and experience working on a cross functional team.
  • Industry Knowledge: Advance understanding of the higher education, practices, policies and procedures, actively participating in day-to-day operations of the T&L team and gaining insights into the field, trends, challenges, and opportunities to advance equity in higher education.
  • Professional Networking: Engage with ATD professionals, partners, and constituents.
  • Communication Skills: Enhance problem-solving abilities by tackling real-world challenges related to addressing inequities in higher education and researching innovative solutions to improve the way students experience learning in educational spaces.
  • Cultural Understanding: Experience exposure to diverse work cultures and practices, fostering an appreciation for cultural differences and the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
  • Develop an understanding of issues and practices in a national non-profit setting.
  • Perform research and contribute to projects that will inform the intern’s desired educational and career journey.
  • Develop skill competencies specific to an occupation or professional interest.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Familiarity with and interest in higher education, student success, and teaching practices/modes, particularly with a community college focus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, databases, word processing, and internet research.
  • Experience writing for a range of audiences and editing written work.
  • This is a virtual position. A strong candidate will be self-directed, with strong collaborative and communication skills, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
