TITLE: Staff Therapist
STATUS: 35 hours per week
HOURLY RATE: $45/hour starting, plus sign-on bonus with annual increase,
LOCATION: Antioch, Pleasant Hill, San Pablo, San Rafael
Community Violence Solutions specializes in providing counseling and advocacy for
people whose lives have been affected by sexual assault and commercial sexual
exploitation. Services are available to child, adolescent, and adult survivors of recent or
past rape, incest, molestation, commercial sexual exploitation, or other forms of trauma,
as well as to family members of sexual assault survivors. In a compassionate
and non-judgmental setting, clients are helped to heal and to gain the self-confidence
and understanding to move forward with their lives. Services include individual and
family therapy, specialized support groups, parenting education, and case management.
This long-standing organization has the unique position of a 47-year history of living
within the same agency as three regional Rape Crisis Centers and Contra Children’s Interview Center – all specializing in acute and chronic sexual
assault and sexual abuse response.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the HOPE Counseling Program Manager, the licensed Therapist is responsible for the provision of long and short-term individual, family, and group treatment services to child,
adolescent, and adult sexual assault victims and commercial sexual exploitation, their
families, and significant others. Some
evening or weekend hours are required.

• Specific sexual assault trauma treatment training (best and promising practices)
• Wide diversity of clients, including child and adolescent treatment
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy, parent education, and case
management services to adult, child, and adolescent trauma victims and their
families.
• Assess and evaluate clients for clinical services.
• Provide information and referrals, collaborate with schools and community
agencies and professionals, and provide court testimony and crisis intervention as
needed.
• CompletCVS’s 40-hour pre-service training as soon as possible following hiring.
Maintain community and public relations contacts to promote referrals to programs, maintain caseloads, and contribute to the overall success of
CVS programming.
• Maintain accurate, timely records of hours worked and services provided to
clients. Adhere to documentation and maintenance of records according to HIPAA and
Community Violence Solutions and funding source standards.
• Maintain a professional approach toward evaluation and record keeping,
respecting its clinical importance and utility and adhering strictly to funding source
regulations for maintenance of all charts.
• Participate in case consultation.
REQUIREMENTS/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Graduate degree (MS, MA) in counseling or related field and
license as MFT, LPCC, or LCSW.
• Good standing and current with BBS license. Participates in Continuing Education with specific training for treatment of abuse and sexual assault.
• Demonstrated experience in the delivery of clinical services. Sexual abuse and
trauma experience preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience interfacing with multi-disciplinary collaborators such
as law enforcement, Child Protective Services, medical, and school personnel.
• Successful background check and clearance with the Department of Justice.
• Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to diversity and cultural issues involved in
working with clients from a wide range of ethnicities, socioeconomic status,
gender, sexual orientation, age, and ability.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to organize and complete clinical and
case management records.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with abilities to work
independently and as a team.
• Must have valid Californidrivers’ license, insurance, and working vehicle.
• Computer capable: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, use of the Internet for
communication and occasional research or online training.
• Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish preferred
