Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for managing and overseeing daily operations/functions of the RMUHC Fee for Service (FFS) CCD. This position is responsible for direct client care and all associated tasks. Will also support the development, implementation and ongoing management of policies and procedures, quality improvement, staff competencies (when qualified) and evaluation, and community collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leadership
    1. Recognizes and effectively implements the dual responsibilities of serving the MS MedSLP students of RMU to be trained as highly effective Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP) after the ASHA requirements for experience and continuing education in supervision are met (approx. 2 years from hire for a new graduate) and providing quality SLP services to clients.
    2. Meets frequently with RMUoHP Health Clinics Director and Chair of the Department of MS MedSLP to identify and implement clinic strategic plans.
    3. Implements leadership initiatives to improve/maintain a positive work environment.
    4. Supports the ongoing needs assessment for RMUHC to develop goals and targets along with comprehensive strategic planning.
    5. Ensures effective implementation of policies, processes, clinical practices, equipment, and facilities are elevated to the highest quality standards.
    6. Strengthens relationships with community organizations to establish referrals and community support.
    7. Collaborates with marketing efforts to market RMU Health Clinics
    8. Complies with and maintains appropriate documentation supporting the approved budget.
    9. Ensures compliance with external agencies, insurance, and other regulations as required.
    10. Supervises, trains, and mentors student speech-pathology interns and clinicians to achieve established goals when requirements for ASHA are met.
    11. Serves as an intermediary between the clinic operations and RMUoHP Health Clinics Senior Director and Chair of the Department of MS MedSLP.
    12. Ensuring the maintenance of uncluttered and sanitary working space.
    13. Assist in and support grants related to the RMU Health Clinics.
    14. Other duties as needed.
  1. Communication
    1. Facilitating and maintaining methods of communication and operation to facilitate interprofessional service delivery to clients.
    2. Advocates for and supports RMUCCD clinic needs, priorities, capabilities, and goals.
  1. Clinical
    1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' speech, language, voice, and swallowing abilities using a variety of assessment tools and evidence-based practices.
    2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address specific patient needs, set realistic goals, and promote optimal outcomes.
    3. Provide direct therapy services to patients, utilizing innovative and effective therapeutic techniques to improve communication and swallowing functions.
    4. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
    5. Educate patients and their families about communication and swallowing disorders, treatment plans, and strategies to facilitate progress outside of therapy sessions.
    6. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
    7. Participate in continuous professional development activities, staying abreast of the latest research and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
    8. Provides clinical supervision to students, if requested.
    9. Monitors regulatory and clinical standards and laws, productivity, and quality assurance efforts, and meets contractual reporting requirements and performance standards.
    10. Participates in critical incident reviews and staff debriefings.
    11. Holds regular clinical staff interaction.
  1. Administrative Supervision
    1. Daily oversight of the operations, concerns, priorities, supervision, clinic care, and so forth of RMUCC supervisees.
    2. Meets on a regular basis with clinic staff.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  1. Clinical performance review by qualified speech-language pathologist (ASHA, UT license).
  2. Maintain patient/client satisfaction at agreed upon levels.
  3. Ensure compliance with clinical documentation standards; ensure accurate and timely clinical notes.
  4. Receive and maintain positive performance evaluations.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

Education/Certification:

Required:

Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology

Currently or willing to complete a supervised fellowship.

Required Knowledge:

Understand assessment, clinic operations, and clinical supervision.

Knowledge of and experience in community service, pro-bono clinic operations.

Understand the andragogy of clinical education with clinic operations.

Understands insurance, HIPPA, and telehealth.

Experience Required:

Worked at the Supervisory Level with clinic coordination and operations and/or ownership and management of an outside company.

Skills/Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed assessments and develop effective treatment plans.
